PCM (Protection Circuit Module) functions as the safety devices during charging and discharging.
Kokam SLPB, as like the other Li-ion battery, must be used within the ranges of 2.7V min. to 4.5V max.
SLPB should be damaged permanently and can¡¯t be used again if it used out of the range above.
PCM would be act as protect device and it keeps the battery in the range above during charging/discharging.
PCM has the 3 primary functions that Kokam prepared for the customer¡¯s demands and requirements.
Cutoff at upper limit of voltage during charging
Cutoff at lower limit of voltage during discharging
->It can be modified to signal only to the controller of application.
(simplification & cost-effectiveness)
Cutoff at over-current (short circuit etc.)
->It can be considered for using Fuse instead of FET due to heat problem at much
higher current.
